Four Chicago restaurants earned AAA’s 2013 Five Diamond rating, giving the city the second-highest number of such prestigious establishments behind New York, AAA Chicago said Friday.
The Chicago restaurants include Alinea, Arun, Everest and Tru. None are new to the rating. Everest has held the honor for 17 years. Tru has held it for 13 years. Arun has held it for 11 years, and Alinea for seven.
AAA also gave Five Diamond ratings to four Chicago hotels. They include The Four Seasons Hotel Chicago, The Peninsula Chicago, Waldorf Astoria Chicago and Trump International Hotel & Tower.
“Illinois’ eight Five Diamond establishments all offer exemplary surroundings and service and reflect the characteristics of ultimate luxury and experience,” Brad Roeber, AAA Chicago regional president, said in a statement.
To earn the rating, restaurants and hotels undergo an inspection by AAA evaluators, and the establishments complete an extensive review that includes a series of inspections and final committee review.
