Online advertised job vacancies in Illinois edged up 1.7 percent in November from October and jumped 18.2 percent from a year earlier, exceeding national levels, according to a report released Monday from the Conference Board.
There were 181,400 online job postings in the state last month, up 3,100 from 178,300 in October and up 27,900 from 151,500 in November 2011.
Nationally, online advertised job vacancies were little changed last month from October, slipping 0.3 percent to 4.72 million. They rose 12.5 percent from November 2011.
Month-over-month, the biggest declines nationally were in office and administrative support staff, down 15,400; and computer and mathematical science positions, down 5,000. But those job categories were still among categories that saw the greatest number of total online advertised jobs, trailing only sales and related positions and health care and technical jobs.
