LA Live outside Staples Center set standard for entertainment complexes

Updated: June 13, 2012 7:50PM

If the Bulls are looking to go Hollywood, they could consider L.A. LIVE, located across the street from the Staples Center sports arena in Los Angeles, as a model.

The Bulls are scouting a handful of possible sites for a new practice facility and offices, with a focus on the retail and entertainment complex that could be built adjacent to the United Center.

L.A. LIVE is a 4-million square foot, $2.5 billion downtown Los Angeles sports, entertainment and residential district. The development includes a 54-story and 1,001-room convention headquarters hotel.

It also includes a 14-screen movie theater, broadcast facilities for ESPN, a 7,100-seat venue for live performances and Club Nokia, a 2,300-seat music venue.

Developed by AEG, L.A. LIVE also features 260,480 square feet of conference center and ballroom facilities and restaurants, including the ESPN Zone, The Farm of Beverly Hills, Flemings Steak House and Wine Bar, Lawry’s Carvery and Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill.

It has a 100,000 square foot special events deck, a Lucky Strike Lanes and Lounge, the celebrity owned Conga Room and a GRAMMY Museum.

L.A. Live is marking its second full season.

The Staples Center is the home of four professional sports franchises: the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers; the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks; and the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. None of the teams practice there.
