Schaumburg named Pioneer Press executive editor

Sun-Times Media announced Tuesday that Jason Schaumburg has been named executive editor of the Pioneer Press chain.
Schaumburg, 37, will oversee the 32 titles of Pioneer Press, including its newsgathering team, digital reports and weekly print editions. He will report to publisher Chris Krug.
Schaumburg recently served as senior editor of Shaw Media’s suburban division, overseeing its digital content strategy. As part of his responsibility, Schaumburg was editor of the (DeKalb) Daily Chronicle. Prior to that, Schaumburg was managing editor for the Crystal Lake-based Northwest Herald. He also was sports editor at Northwest Herald. In all, he was with Shaw Media for 14 years.
Schaumburg is a graduate of Northern Illinois University.
Pioneer Press also announced that former Northwest Herald night news editor David Lemery had joined the organization as managing editor for production. Lemery will report to Schaumburg.
