Chicago area employers plan to do more hiring in the third quarter, according to a Manpower survey released Tuesday.
Twenty-two percent of employers who responded to the survey said they plan to boost staffing, up from 19 percent in both the year-ago quarter and the second quarter of this year.
Only 3 percent of employers plan job cuts. That’s down from 4 percent a year earlier and down from 8 percent in the second quarter of this year.
The net employment outlook for the area rose to 19 percent, up from 15 percent in the year-ago quarter and up from 11 percent in the second quarter.
Job prospects appear the best in construction, durable goods manufacturing, transportation and utilities, wholesale and retail trade, information, financial activities, professional and business services and leisure and hospitality.
