Celebrity chef Rick Bayless, who has two restaurants at O’Hare International Airport, is hoping to land a spot at Chicago Midway International Airport.
Bayless submitted a proposal in response to a request for proposals from the city to operate a food and beverage concession at Midway, according to the Chicago Aviation Department.
“An internal review of all proposals we’ve received is now under way,” department spokeswoman Tammy Chase said in an email.
Once selections are made, they are subject to City Council approval.
Bayless, the founder of the 25-year-old Frontera Grill restaurant downtown Chicago as well as Topolobampo and Xoco restaurants, has Tortas Frontera restaurants in Terminals 1 and 3 at O’Hare.
