Groupon, or some version of it, may be coming to prime time this fall.
Among the new fall shows CBS is expected to announce Wednesday is “Friend Me,” starring Christopher Mintz-Plasse (“Superbad”) and Nicholas Braun as friends who leave Bloomington, Ind., for new jobs at Groupon.
But they go to Los Angeles, while Groupon famously began and remains in Chicago.
Company spokeswoman Julie Mossler took issue with that, saying, “It just isn’t Groupon without Chicago as a backdrop.”
She said Groupon has not been involved with the show but added, “We’re flattered that Groupon will be further imbedded into pop culture.”
