The average price of unleaded regular gasoline in the Chicago area jumped 19 cents a gallon in January from December and averaged $3.61 a gallon — a record high for January. Prices are 32 cents a gallon higher than January 2011’s average price of $3.29 a gallon. The increase can be blamed on oil prices, which have been driven higher by tensions with Iran, said AAA Chicago spokeswoman Beth Mosher.
