Snow totals for Northwest Indiana show Highland worst hit

As of Feb. 3, 2011, at 7 a.m.
Highland: 23.9-25 inches.
Schererville west: 20.4 inches
DeMotte south: 19.7 inches.
Portage east: 19.5 inches.
Crown Point west: 19 inches.
Hebron northeast: 18.9 inches.
Lakes of the Four Seasons: 17.3 inches.
Chesterton east: 17 inches.
Porter south: 16.7 inches
Hammond southwest: 16.2 inches.
Valparaiso northwest: 13.6 inches.
Valparaiso north: 11.7 inches.
Chesterton east 11.5 inches.
Valparaiso south: 10.7 inches.

Highland appears to have shouldered the brunt of the blizzard that pummeled Northwest Indiana Tuesday night and Wednesday. Trained spotters measured snow of 23.9 to 25 inches Thursday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
Schererville was also hit hard, coming in at 20.4 inches.
Those measurements top the Chicago O’Hare International Airport total of 20.2 inches — the third-highest in history.
The smallest snow totals in the region were 10.7 measured in southern Valparaiso.
Porter County officials lifted the state of emergency Thursday morning.
Many government offices remained closed Thursday, including in Lake and Porter county. They are scheduled to reopen Friday.
