OFFICIAL RULES
CHICAGO SUN-TIMES ZELL NO! VIDEO CONTEST
1. HOW TO ENTER. NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN A PRIZE. A purchase will not increase your chances of winning. The Chicago Sun-Times Zell No! Video Contest (the “Contest”) begins February 29, 2008 at 12:01am Central Standard Time (“CST”) and ends on March 14, 2008 at 11:59pm CST (the “Contest Period”). Enter the Contest by registering at http://www.suntimes.com/zell and following the instructions to submit your video of yourself singing to Sam Zell an original song you have written about his decision to rename Wrigley Field (the “Video”). Registering will also require your name, address, age, email address and telephone number. Entrant’s Video must be solely entrant’s own original work and must comply with Sponsor’s Submission Guidelines which can be found at http://www.suntimes.com/aboutus/submissions.stng. Entries must be received by Sponsor by March 14, 2008 at 11:59pm CST. Sponsor’s computer is the official time-keeping device for this Contest. Those entries that do not provide all the required information or whose Videos do not conform with the guidelines set forth in these rules will be disqualified and discarded. All entries become property of Chicago Sun-Times (“Sponsor”) and will not be returned. Entrants acknowledge that by entering, the entrant’s name and Video, if eligible, will be posted on Sponsor’s or Sponsor’s affiliates’ web sites. Entries that are forged, altered, or mechanically reproduced will not be accepted and will be void.
2. ELIGIBILITY: The Contest is open to legal residents of Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin and Iowa aged 18 years or older, except employees of the Sponsor, its parent and affiliated companies, advertising agencies, and promotional partners, and relatives of and those living in the same household as such employees. For the purpose of this Contest, relatives are defined as spouse, mother, father, in-laws, grandmother, grandfather, brother, sister, children and grandchildren. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. Void where prohibited.
3. SELECTION OF WINNER: On or about March 17, 2008, all eligible Videos will be judged by Michael Cooke, the Editor in Chief of Chicago Sun-Times (whose judging decisions are final) and one (1) winner will be selected in his sole discretion. The winner will be notified that they may have won a prize in this Contest by mail or telephone (at Sponsor’s sole discretion) within one (1) week following the winner’s selection. Winner may be required (in Sponsor’s sole discretion) to sign and return an affidavit of eligibility and liability/publicity release (which is subject to verification by Sponsor) within the time frame specified by Sponsor or prize may be forfeited. If any prize notification, prize, or Contest communication is rejected or returned as undeliverable or if a winner cannot be reached after a reasonable attempt has been made by Sponsor (as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion), the prize will remain unawarded.
4. PRIZE/ODDS: There will be one (1) winner for this Contest who will receive One Thousand Dollars ($1,000). Odds of winning depend on number of eligible entries received and on Mr. Cooke’s selection. All federal, state and local taxes, as well as any expenses not specified in these Official Rules, are the sole responsibility of the winner(s). No transfers or prize substitutions will be made, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. No more than one (1) prize will be awarded. Sponsor will withhold and/or report taxes as required by Illinois law and the law of winner’s jurisdiction.
5. LIMITATION OF LIABILITY: EACH PARTICIPANT AGREES TO RELEASE, HOLD HARMLESS AND INDEMNIFY SPONSOR, AND ITS PARENT, DIVISIONS, SUBSIDIARIES, AFFILIATES, ADVERTISING, PROMOTION, AND PUBLIC RELATIONS AGENCIES, AND THE RESPECTIVE OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, REPRESENTATIVES AND AGENCIES OF EACH FOR ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER FOR INJURIES OR DAMAGES OF ANY KIND SUSTAINED IN CONNECTION WITH THE ACCEPTANCE, POSSESSION, USE, MISUSE OR AWARDING OF A PRIZE OR WHILE PREPARING FOR, PARTICIPATING IN AND/OR TRAVELING TO OR FROM ANY PRIZE- OR CONTEST-RELATED ACTIVITY, INCLUDING, WITHOUT LIMITATION, ANY INJURY, DAMAGE, DEATH, LOSS, OR ACCIDENT TO PERSON OR PROPERTY.
6. ADDITIONAL DISCLAIMERS: Sponsor is not responsible and/or liable for any of the following, whether caused by Sponsor, the entrant, or by human error: any lost, late, incomplete, illegible, mutilated, misdirected or postage-due mail; technical or mechanical malfunctions; or errors, typos or misprints in these official rules, in any Contest-related advertisements or other materials.
7. GENERAL RULES: By entering the Contest, (except where prohibited by law) each entrant agrees that Sponsor and its promotional partners and third party marketing entities may use entrant’s name, picture, likeness, voice, biographical data, and/or any information contained in his/her entry in advertising, promotion, and marketing materials throughout the world, including on the internet, without additional compensation, notice, review, or approval. Sponsor’s decisions will be final in all matters, including interpretation of these official rules and awarding of the prizes. DO NOT call Sponsor, as this Contest will not be discussed by phone, except at Sponsor’s sole discretion. All participants, or minor participants’ parents or legal guardians, as a condition of entry, agree to be bound by these official rules and the decisions of Sponsor. Failure to comply with these official rules may result in disqualification from this Contest. Sponsor reserves the right to permanently disqualify any person it believes has intentionally violated these official rules. Participants or minor participants’ parents or legal guardians, further agree to not knowingly damage or cause interruption of the Contest and/or prevent others from using the Contest. Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to void entries of any entrants who Sponsor believes have attempted to tamper with or impair the administration, security, fairness or proper play of this Contest. If the Contest is not capable of running as planned for any reason, Sponsor reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, modify or suspend the Contest and award the prize from among entries received prior to or after the date of the cancellation, modification or suspension. Any person who supplies false information, obtains entries by fraudulent means, or is otherwise determined to be in violation of these official rules in an attempt to obtain any prize will forfeit any prize won and may be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
8. WINNER’S LIST. For a list of winners, send a legal-size, self-addressed, stamped envelope to: Chicago Sun-Times, Zell No! Contest, Winner’s List, 350 North Orleans, Floor 9, Chicago, Illinois 60654, Attn: Kirsten Miller. Requests must be received no later than three (3) months following the close of the Contest.
