SUN-TIMES MEDIA WIRE December 21, 2011 5:22AM
Dense fog blanketing the Chicago area early Wednesday will remain through the morning rush hour, reducing visibility to less than a quarter mile in some areas, according to the National Weather Service.
A dense fog advisory lasts until 10 a.m. for Kane, DuPage, Cook, Kendall and Will counties in Illinois as well as Lake and Porter counties in Indiana, according to the weather service.
Areas south of I-88 and the Eisenhower Expressway are most likely to see visibilities below a quarter-mile before winds shift and dissipate the fog later Wednesday morning, the weather service said.
Drivers are advised to slow down, use headlights and leave plenty of distance ahead of their vehicles.
