The U.S. government has no evidence of extraterrestrial life and “no credible information” to suggest a federal cover-up of any alien encounters on Earth, White House officials said.
“The U.S. government has no evidence that any life exists outside our planet, or that an extraterrestrial presence has contacted or engaged any member of the human race. In addition, there is no credible information to suggest that any evidence is being hidden from the public’s eye,” Phil Larson, an official with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, wrote.
“However, that doesn’t mean the subject of life outside our planet isn’t being discussed or explored.”
The recent blog item came as an official response to two petitions that asked the White House to formally acknowledge that the government is aware of alien encounters on Earth. The petitions were electronically signed by about 17,500 people.
Supposed close encounters, alien abductions, unidentified flying objects and purported government cover-ups have been the subject of controversy for decades. Many believe a spacecraft and alien occupants crashed near Roswell, N.M., in July 1947. Gannett News Service
