The Sun-Times is offering a new product to provide local television listings. The weekly TV Prevue section has been replaced by TV Weekly Magazine, and Sun-Times readers will have an opportunity to subscribe to the glossy, 44-page bound magazine.
Sun-Times Media has partnered with NTVB Media to offer the TV Weekly Magazine, which will offer more listings, an expanded channel guide, seven puzzles, including Sudoku and crossword, an A to Z movie listing and sports listing.
A free sample of the magazine is available in Sunday’s Sun-Times newspaper and will be included in the Nov. 6 edition of the Sun-Times. The weekly TV listing grids have been discontinued, but daily TV grids will be published in each edition of the Sun-Times.
TV Weekly has a circulation of close to 1 million customers and is sold at retail outlets across the country and offered by newspaper publications in 40 markets, including Los Angeles and Detroit.
“TV Weekly is the best single source for viewing information that we’ve seen,” said Chicago Sun-Times Publisher John Barron. “Readers who sign up for this new offering will get a highly localized version specific to the Chicago region. People who love TV— and like to plan — will find that it’s big, convenient and goes way beyond simple grid listings.”
The subscription prices for TV Weekly are as follows:
For home delivery subscribers to any Sun-Times Media publication, 52 issues cost $39 (75 cents an issue); 104 issues, $69.68 (67 cents an issue).
For non-subscribers: 52 issues for $51.48 (99 cents an issue).
TV Weekly will be delivered to the magazine’s subscribers’ doorsteps on Fridays, beginning Nov. 11.
