Updated: September 10, 2011 12:35AM

An off-duty Cook County Sheriff’s deputy was thrown from a motorcycle and injured in a hit-and-run crash early Monday on the Dan Ryan Expressway.

The crash happened in the outbound lanes of the Ryan near 63rd Street around 1:15 a.m., according to the State Police.

A black pickup truck came from behind and hit the motorcycle in the express lanes, throwing the driver from the bike. The truck then drove off.

The Cook County Sheriff’s deputy was not critically injured. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County.

State Police are investigating.
