NEW LENOX — One person died and another was injured Wednesday afternoon in an Interstate 80 crash involving a passenger vehicle and two semi-trailer trucks, state police said.
The crash killed a 60-year-old woman from Park Forest. Her name was not released Wednesday.
The injured motorist was taken to Silver Cross Hospital, according to state police Sgt. R. A. Caves.
The collision occurred about 2:18 p.m. in I-80’s westbound lanes, just west of Interstate 355.
A car apparently was bumped from behind by a semi-trailer truck, causing the car to spin into the other lane.
There, the car was run over by another semi-trailer truck, according to reports from the scene.
Traffic was routed off I-80 onto northbound I-355 until the westbound lanes reopened about three hours later, at 5:21 p.m., Caves said.
