An Uptown man was arrested Monday afternoon after he allegedly made an unspecified threat to the Willis Tower and investigators found 20 guns, several pounds of gunpowder and two grenades in his apartment.
But later Monday, police said that “there was no overt threat made,” and that the 60-year-old renter had been taken a facility for a mental evaluation.
Police arrived at the man’s apartment in the 4200 block of North Sheridan about 2:30 p.m., and investigators evacuated the first three floors of the building.
Police police Bomb & Arson Section searched the man’s apartment and removed the weapons.
There was no information about any possible charges in the case.
