A food services worker at Evanston Hospital who was told he was being laid off punched his supervisor in the face, knocked him to the ground and then stepped on his head, police said Thursday.
The employee, whom police did not name, ran from the hospital Wednesday and was being sought.
The man, in his early 20s, punched his 43-year-old supervisor at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the hospital at 2650 N. Ridge.
“When they notified him of his pending non-employment, he became physically combative, and at that point, he punched his supervisor in the face and ribs, causing him to fall to the ground,’’ Evanston Police Cmdr. Tom Guenther said. “Once he [the supervisor] was on the ground, he then stepped on his face before being stopped by hospital security staff.’’
