Valparaiso sixth-grader handcuffed over spilled milk

A Northwest Indiana 12-year-old who refused to clean up spilled milk in his middle school cafeteria ended up in handcuffs on charges of resisting police.
Police said an officer was helping supervise the lunch period at Franklin Middle School on Tuesday because the principal and assistant principal were in a meeting, and the boy got into a confrontation with a staff member over the spill.
After refusing to wipe up the mess and obey the staff member, the sixth-grader ran away — through hallways and the kitchen — when the police officer tried to take him to the principal’s office, police said.
Once caught, he fought and kicked the officer and eventually was put in handcuffs. He was released to one of his parents.
