First the Abercrombie Kids website, aimed at 7- to 12-year-olds, sold its “Ashley” bikini as a “pushup” swim top. Then, after protests, the company backpedaled, describing it only as “padded.”
“We’ve re-categorized the Ashley swimsuit as padded. We agree with those who say it is best ‘suited’ for girls age 12 and older,” the company said Monday via Facebook. The Ashley disappeared Tuesday.
Abercrombie also has drawn fire for selling thong underwear in children’s sizes and for catalogs featuring provocative teenage-looking models.
