Geneva high school bans ‘grinding’ at dances

A suggestive style of dancing called “grinding” has been banned from dances at a high school in far west suburban Geneva.

Grinding involves dance partners rubbing against each other in an explicit way. The Kane County Chronicle reports that some Geneva High School students had complained to their principal about it.

That led school officials to write a letter to parents announcing the ban on the “sexually explicit, back-to-front style of dancing.”

School officials also asked a disc jockey hired for a Friday night dance not to play songs with a pounding bass line that would encourage grinding.
