Candidates’ feelings on renaming Soldier Field

Here’s what representatives of the top four candidates for mayor had to say when asked if the candidates would consider changing Soldier Field in any way:
RAHM EMANUEL’S POSITION
“He’s against selling the naming rights. He believes Soldier Field should continue to honor those who served our country.’’

GERY CHICO’S POSITION
“Gery believes patriotism does not have a price. Soldier Field is a sacred Chicago landmark that honors our veterans and, as mayor, Gery would be very careful to protect that. He would be open to exploring creative ideas that could attract sponsors while preserving the Soldier Field name and stadium to give soldiers the respect they deserve.” —BROOKE ANDERSON, spokeswoman
CAROL MOSELEY BRAUN’S POSITION
“She is against selling naming rights to Soldier Field. The name is a tribute to those who sacrificed and continue to do so for our freedom.” —RENEE FERGUSON, spokeswoman
