RANSOM, Ill. (AP) — LaSalle County authorities believe they’ve found the body of a woman who’s been missing since a car crash last month that killed her husband.

Sheriff Tom Templeton says the body of 40-year-old Tanya Shannon was found in a field Monday morning.

Templeton says the clothing found on the body matches what Shannon was last reported to be wearing, and her purse was found nearby.

The body was first spotted by personnel riding in a helicopter operated by Chicago’s WBBM-AM.

Shannon’s husband, 41-year-old Dale Shannon, was found dead in their car after the Dec. 5 accident.

Deputies found footprints in the snow leading away from the car and what appeared to be one of Tanya Shannon’s slippers, but there were no other signs her.

The search for her resumed Monday.
