A 37-year-old man shot and killed his wife, then shot and wounded her sister before turning the gun on himself late Sunday in the Roseland neighborhood, Chicago police said.

The murder-suicide occurred in the 400 block of West 104th Street, said police, who responded to a report of shots fired at about 9:55 p.m.

James Sterling and his 29-year-old wife, Amy Holmes-Sterling, were both pronounced dead at the scene at 10:26 p.m., authorities said. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office listed Holmes-Sterling’s home address in the 300 block of East 53rd Street.

A 26-year-old woman, identified as Holmes-Sterling’s sister, was shot in the shoulder and taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, police said.
