Updated: August 15, 2014 8:18AM

A woman died in a fire Thursday night in the Logan Square neighborhood, and two men were taken to the hospital.

About 11:40 p.m., firefighters responded to a second-story blaze at a vacant apartment in the 3400 block of West Armitage Avenue, Fire Media Affairs Director Larry Langford said. A woman was taken to Norwegian Hospital where she was pronounced dead shortly after midnight, Langford said. Both men were taken to Stroger Hospital, Langford said. One man is in critical condition while the other’s condition stabilized.

Their exact ages were not immediately available.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed the woman’s death, but her identity was withheld early Friday.

The building has been vacant for more than six months, Langford said. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Further details were not immediately available early Friday.
