‘Minor derailment’ limits Blue Line service into Forest Park

Updated: August 8, 2014 1:45PM

CTA Blue Line trains near the end of the Eisenhower Expressway leg of the route were delayed Friday morning after a train suffered a “minor derailment” at the Forest Park station, officials said.

A westbound train arriving at the station had a problem about 11:10 a.m., according to CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski.

It appears the train’s wheels slipped off the tracks, and no injuries were reported, Hosinski said.

Passengers were asked to walk through the train to the front car and exit onto the platform, according to Hosinski.

Until the problem is cleared up, commuters must change trains at Harlem. From Harlem, a shuttle train is operating on a single track to the Forest Park station, according to the CTA website.

Service from Harlem into the Loop and on to O’Hare International Airport is operating normally.
