A 6-year-old boy was bitten by a dog and seriously wounded Monday evening in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side.

Police officers who responded to a call about a vicious animal found the boy, who had facial injuries and bites to his leg, about 6:15 p.m. in the 7400 block of South Champlain, said Veejay Zala, a Chicago Police spokesman.
