A man was killed and two teens were wounded in a shooting on the Near West Side Tuesday night.
The three were standing on the sidewalk in the 200 block of South Western Avenue about 10 p.m. when a male got out of a dark-colored sedan and opened fire, police News Affairs Officer Hector Alfaro said.
A 49-year-old man was shot in the chest and taken to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, where he was pronounced dead at 10:33 p.m., according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office. His name was withheld early Wednesday pending notification of family members.
An 18-year-old man was shot in the right calf and a 17-year-old boy was struck in the lower left leg, Alfaro said. Their conditions were stable at Stroger.
The man killed was a documented gang member, police said.
