As the sticky heat persisted into the evening, little Briton Burnam’s family pushed opened the 10-month-old’s second-floor bedroom window.
At some point, Briton awoke, pushed past the screen window and fell out of the South Side apartment Sunday evening, landing on the sidewalk, said his grandmother, Kimberly Brown.
But other than a bruised face, Briton is going to be fine, Brown said Monday morning.
“We’re elated that he’s OK,” Brown said, speaking from Comer Children’s Hospital.
The child plummeted from a building in the 700 block of East 93rd Street about 7:15 p.m., according to Chicago Fire officials. Briton was taken to Comer Children’s in “stable” condition.
The child was in the care of a grandfather at the time, but sleeping on his mother’s bed, Brown said. Briton was given a CT scan at Comer and will be admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, Brown said Sunday night.
