Under the gun: Homicides down, shootings up in 2014 so far

A man who pointed a gun at Chicago Police was shot by an officer early Saturday in the Austin neighborhood on the West Side, according to the Fraternal Order of Police. Chicago Police reported a 5 percent decrease in murders through the first six months of 2014 compared with the same period last year.
