Boy, 13, charged with attempted murder in shooting of 3 teens

A 13-year-old boy was charged Tuesday night with attempted murder in connection with a shooting Monday that injured three other teens in the Washington Heights neighborhood on the South Side.
The boy, whose name was not released, was charged with three counts of attempted first-degree murder and three counts of aggravated battery with a firearm, police said late Tuesday.
The three teens were standing on the corner in the 9700 block of South Lowe Avenue about 6 p.m. Monday when a group of males approached and one started firing, police said. Then the group ran away.
A 14-year-old boy who was shot in the head and body was in critical condition. Another 14-year-old boy was shot in his right thigh. Both were taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in Evergreen Park.
A 17-year-old boy was shot in his head and armpit and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition, police said.
