Outbound BNSF trains had been stopped for about 50 minutes Monday morning after a freight train hit a vehicle in west suburban Hinsdale.
An outbound train struck the front end of a vehicle about 7:40 a.m. at a grade crossing “very close” to the West Hinsdale station, said Metra spokesman Tom Miller. No one was injured in the incident, Miller said.
Outbound trains were still stopped at 8:40 a.m., Miller said.
Inbound trains were halted for about 40 minutes before they were allowed to start moving again and are running about 30 minutes behind, according to Metra. But inbound train no. 1370, scheduled to arrive in Chicago at 8:58 a.m., was canceled, according to Metra.
Hinsdale police could not be reached for comment.
