Blue Line service back on track after ammonia leak at O’Hare

Updated: June 12, 2014 2:06PM

Regular service is resuming on the CTA’s Blue Line on Thursday afternoon after an ammonia leak temporarily closed the L station at O’Hare International Airport.

The O’Hare terminal closed at just before 9 a.m. but by early afternoon normal service was resuming on the L line, CTA spokeswoman Catherine Hosinski said.

The ammonia leak was traced to a storage room at the airport, and part of the area was evacuated, according to the Chicago Fire Department.

Blue Line trains were being turned at Rosemont, and shuttle buses were operating in both directions between Rosemont and O’Hare until 1 p.m., according to the CTA.

A spokesperson for the city’s Department of Aviation could not be reached for comment.
