A 31-year-old man was charged Wednesday with strangling his girlfriend at her home in the Humboldt Park neighborhood.

Daniel Kralik was charged with one count of first-degree murder. He’s accused of strangling Victoria A. McManus, 26, early Wednesday in her home in the 1200 block of North Rockwell Street, authorities said.

Kralik admitted that he fatally injured McManus, police said. Authorities allege he strangled McManus with his hands during a domestic incident about 12:49 a.m. Wednesday.

McManus was pronounced dead at the scene 15 minutes later, the Cook County medical examiner’s office said. Her death was ruled a homicide.

Kralik, of the 2200 block of West Iowa Street, was expected to appear in court Thursday for a bond hearing.
