A woman was sexually assaulted on a trail in south suburban Matteson early Thursday, while en route to her Metra stop.
Police responded about 5:30 a.m., after a 911 caller said someone had been sexually assaulted near Old Plank Road Trail between Main Street and Homan Avenue, police said in a release.
The victim, a 34-year-old woman, was walking along the trail to the Metra train from her home in Park Forest when the man grabbed her and assaulted her, police said.
He ran away after the attack, heading northeast, police said.
Authorities are circulating a sketch of the attacker, who is described as a black man in his late 20s to early 30s with a medium brown complexion, about 5-foot-10 and 180 pounds with short hair, police said. He had no facial hair and had calloused hands.
He was wearing a black hooded nylon jacket with a white zipper, dark denim jeans, and worn dark gym shoes, police said.
