Several children were hospitalized Tuesday night after alcohol was accidentally served to them at a birthday party at a Home Run Inn restaurant in the Little Village neighborhood.

The children were taken to area hospitals in good condition about 9:40 p.m., after they were accidentally given alcohol by a server at the restaurant in the 4200 block of West 31st Street, according to a police source.

“There’s nothing criminal about this,” the source said.

The group of children was there for a birthday party, according to Neyante Eggleston, who attended the party with her 6-year-old son. She told a reporter at the scene that several servers took the children’s drinks away without explaining why.

The parents of the children — all 10 or younger — called the police after smelling the drinks and realizing there was alcohol in them.
