Police are searching for the mother of a baby girl found alone Friday night in an apartment building on the South Side.

The 1-year-old was found around 11:30 p.m. Friday in the lobby of the building in the 8200 block of South Justine Street in Auburn Gresham, according to Chicago Police.

The girl was identified Saturday afternoon, but the police would not release her name.

She was checked at Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Center in Evergreen Park and then turned over to the state’s Department of Child and Family Services, police Officer Thomas Sweeney said.
