Toddler found alone on South Side without coat, hat, shoes

A 2-year-old boy has been placed into DCFS custody after he was found alone outside late Thursday on the South Side with no coat, shoes or hat.
The boy, whose named was not immediately released, was found about 11:50 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of East 82nd and South Avalon, police said.
The boy’s mother was located about 5:30 a.m., but he is still in DCFS custody, authorities said.
After he was found, he was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, police said. The temperature was 3 degrees at the time, according to the National Weather Service.
