Updated: February 18, 2014 8:43AM

A freight train derailment in west suburban Cicero Monday night has caused service disruptions on Metra’s BNSF Line that have lasted into the Tuesday morning commute.

The train was crossing over three tracks near Cicero Avenue when it derailed about 10 p.m. Monday, Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said. He said three outbound and two inbound scheduled trains were affected.

Two morning trains have been canceled, according to a service alert posted to the Metra website. Commuters can expect delays averaging 20 to 30 minutes.

Riders are advised to listed to platform announcements for the most up-to-date information on the locations of their trains.
