Switching problem delays Metra trains at Ogilvie during evening rush

Multiple train lines are delayed Wednesday evening because of a switching problem at the Ogilvie Transportation Center.

At least eight trains on the Union Pacific North, Northwest and West lines have been delayed since 5:30 p.m., Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said.

Delayed averaged 20 to 60 minutes as of about 6 p.m., Metra’s website said.

Gillis could not say whether the delays are weather-related.

Metra had issued a service alert warning riders that the snow and cold could cause delays for commuters through Wednesday.
