Updated: February 3, 2014 11:26AM

A man was critically injured after jumping out of a window during a fire Monday morning on the Near West Side.

A still-and-box alarm was called for the blaze about 8 a.m. at the Royalton Hotel, a four-story single occupancy hotel at 1810 W. Jackson, Fire Media Affairs spokesman Juan Hernandez said.

The man, whose age was not immediately known, jumped out of a window during the fire and was taken in critical condition to John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Hernandez said. It was not immediately known from which floor the person jumped.

No other injuries were reported and the blaze was extinguished about 8:15 a.m., Hernandez said.

The Chicago Fire Department is investigating the cause of the fire.
