Chicago Police say a man arrested for a Near North Side burglary this week may be linked to nearly 20 other burglaries dating back to 2013.

Rodney Burton was allegedly spotted by police early Thursday morning exiting a building with a bag in his hand in the 400 block of West Huron Street. The officers, who were called to the scene to check on a burglary in progress, saw Burton drive off but were able to stop him, police said.

In the bag, police said they found electronics, audio equipment, Blu-ray discs and burglary tools.

Burton, of the 0-100 block of North Hoyne Avenue, is linked to three active burglary patterns totaling nearly 20 incidents across the city, police said.

So far, the 47-year-old has been charged with three counts of burglary and one count of possession of burglary tools.

Burton, 47, was released Friday on a $90,000 recognizance bond, but Cook County Judge Donald Panarese Jr. said he must remain on electronic monitoring while he awaits trial.
