Two people have been hospitalized and nine were displaced after an extra-alarm fire at a restaurant in the Northwest Side’s Portage Park neighborhood.
The 2-11 fire was first reported about 8 p.m. in the building at the corner of West Irving Park Road and North Central Avenue, according to Fire Media Affairs.
Crews set up a collapse zone on the west side of the building, which has a restaurant on the first floor and apartments above. The fire was struck out about 10:45 p.m.
Two people, whose ages, genders and conditions were not immediately known, were hospitalized with smoke inhalation, fire media said.
Four adults and five children were displaced as a result of the blaze, according to fire media.
