Chicago police said they discovered nearly $1 million worth of marijuana on the Southwest Side, and now a man from the Ashburn neighborhood is facing criminal charges.
Miguel A. Briseno, 22, of the 3600 block of West 82nd Place, is charged with possession of the drug and was released on his own recognizance Sunday.
Records show he is charged with having only two pounds of marijuana, but a prosecutor said further charges could be pending.
Officers acting on a tip allegedly caught Briseno trying to deliver two pounds of marijuana in the 4200 block of South Princeton, according to a police report. He allegedly told officers a man at a gas station paid him $200 to deliver the drugs, the records show.
Chicago police said they later learned of a large cache of drugs being stored in a home on the block where Briseno lives. A subsequent search Saturday turned up about 350 pounds of marijuana, police said. They said the total value of the drugs recovered in the investigation is about $1 million.
