A man was critically injured after being shot during a carjacking in the Logan Square neighborhood on the North Side Wednesday night, police said.
The 49-year-old man was sitting in his beige 1999 Chevy Tahoe in the 2000 block of North Richmond Street about 8 p.m. when two men--one carrying a handgun--walked up and ordered the man out of the SUV, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
When the man got out of the car, the gunman shot him in the chest and thigh before the two got into the SUV and drove off, Greer said.
The 49-year-old was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he is listed in critical condition, police said.
Police said the alleged carjackers were two Hispanic men, and that the stolen SUV’s license plate number is K489983.
