WBBM-TV investigative reporter Dave Savini was charged Saturday with driving drunk.
Savini was arrested at 12:21 a.m. Saturday after hitting another vehicle in the parking lot of a Taco Bell at 1287 Rickert Dr. in Naperville and then pushing the driver, according to Naperville police Cmdr. Jason Arres.
“It is my understanding [the other driver] was attempting to get a photograph of Savini’s license plate when [Savini] pushed him back,” Arres said.
The other driver called 911 as Savini drove away, according to Arres, who said an officer stopped Savini’s vehicle shortly after near Saratoga and Plainfield-Naperville roads.
He said Savini had two children under the age of 18 with him.
Savini, 46, who lives in Naperville, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of endangering the health or life of a child, battery and leaving the scene of an accident.
Savini, who did not respond to an e-mail seeking comment, was released on $3,000 bail.
Savini has been a reporter for WBBM-Channel 2 since July 2004.
