A baby born at Presence Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago just after midnight appears to be the first of 2014 in the Chicago area.
Luis and Luz Marquez of Chicago welcomed their first son, Luis Anthony Marquez, into the world shortly before 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday. The 7-pound, 2-ounce boy has two older sisters, Ari, 11, and Yamileth, 3.
Luis arrived in Chicago slightly ahead of Alexander Hokan Lazroff, a 9-pound boy born at 12:23 a.m. at Northwestern’s Prentice Women’s Hospital. He’s the first child of Kara and Kevin Lazroff, who live on Chicago’s North Side.
“He came at 39 weeks exactly and we couldn’t be happier,” Kara Lazroff said in a Northwestern news release. “Now we have two things to celebrate — the new year and our son’s birthday — every year on Jan. 1.”
