A Lincoln Park man has been charged in connection with two sexual assaults that allegedly took place Friday – one against an elderly woman in a West Side parking lot near the Orange Line, and in a separate attack hours earlier on a woman in the Montclare neighborhood.
James Whiteside, 30, of the 600 block of West Deming Place, faces eight felony charges in the attacks, police said.
In the most recent incident on Dec. 27, a 69-year-old woman was getting into her vehicle in a secure parking lot in the 4600 block of West 59th Street leaving the Midway Orange Line CTA station when Whiteside allegedly brandished a handgun and forced her into the vehicle about 4:15 p.m., police said
Whiteside then sexually assaulted her and stole her money, cell phone and ATM card, police said.
After the assault, he drove her to various locations and made withdrawals from her bank account, before abandoning her and the vehicle on the West Side, police said.
At 2:30 a.m. the same day, police say Whiteside sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman in the 3100 block of North Harlem Avenue, police said. Details regarding the incident were not immediately available.
Whiteside is charged with aggravated criminal sexual assault against a senior, aggravated criminal sexual assault with a weapon, aggravated kidnapping with a weapon, kidnapping, aggravated armed robbery, aggravated unlawful restraint and aggravated vehicular hijacking with a weapon, authorities said.
He is scheduled to appear in bond court Monday.
