Christmas Eve fire leaves 16 people displaced


Sixteen people, including three children, were displaced by an early-morning fire on Christmas Eve in Chicago’s Gresham neighborhood.

Fire officials responded to the blaze about 3 a.m. in one unit of a five-story apartment building in the 1800 block of West 79th Street, according to Fire Media Affairs.

Crews extinguished the fire by 3:25 a.m., Fire Media said.

No one was hurt in the fire, officials said.

The cause of the fire was unknown early Tuesday.
