Woman in good condition after getting hit by Red Line train

Updated: December 20, 2013 11:34AM

CTA Red Line trains were temporarily delayed during Friday morning’s commute after a woman was struck by a train at a South Side station.

A passenger fell onto the tracks and was hit by an approaching northbound train at the 87th Street station, CTA spokesperson Catherine Hosinki said, citing preliminary information.

The person was helped back onto the platform by other passengers, Hosinki said.

Police said the woman passed out, which caused her to fall onto the tracks.

She was taken in good condition to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, said Larry Langford, director of Fire Media Affairs.

Power to the tracks was cut off at 8:46 a.m., Hosinki said.

Power was restored to the track a few minutes after 9 a.m. and trains are running normally again, but are still experiencing some delays, according to the CTA.
