Two people were killed Wednesday morning during a house fire in west suburban Naperville.
The names of those who died at the fire at 1212 Field Court are being withheld pending notification of their family.
According to Naperville Fire Department Bureau Chief Mark Thurow, three people were also taken from the scene for medical treatment. Two had non-life threatening injuries, while another is listed in critical condition.
When firefighters arrived at the scene at 6:55 a.m., the house was engulfed in flames, fire officials said. They were able to go into the house to get some people out.
“Shortly after (a resident) was rescued from the second floor, firefighters were pulled from the building for fear of collapse,” Thurow said.
The fire appeared under control by about 8:15 a.m., although responders were seen carrying what appeared to be breathing apparatus into and away from the house during the hour that followed.
Backup was provided by Bolingbrook, Downers Grove and Westmont fire departments, among others.
